The Heritage Ballroom of the Governor Hotel,

Thank you all for making our Annual Luncheon a
huge (and we mean HUGE) success! We had a
record 441 guests this year. When we recover,
we'll post some highlights; check back soon!
There
are tickets to the
play (not the reception) available through
Portland Center Stage, but the ones that Portland
Center Stage arranged for us went fast!

Wednesday 13 February 2008
Tours beginning at 6:15
Reception at 6:45
Curtain at 7:30
The Armory in the Pearl District
Portland Center Stage has again made their
mezzanine balcony and a performance of
The Beard
of Avon available to us for one evening. A

environmentally green Armory, will be held
beforehand.
The Beard
of Avon is a comic take on the life of
Shakespeare, and is played by the same cast playing
Twelfth Night at PCS. Tickets to the
reception and play are $50 per person. Since
tickets retail at $45 regularly, this is a very good
deal!
Reviews are in! Click
here for the Oregonian's review of
The Beard of Avon, and
here for
Twelfth Night. Remember that PCS is
offering half price tickets for Twelfth Night
to Beard of Avon ticketholders.

Tuesday, 15 April 2006
5-7 pm, OPUS6IX Art Gallery, Eugene
Chief Justice David Brewer, Oregon Court of
Appeals: "Our system is complex. It's
why lawyers are licensed to practice law and belong
to the bar. And it's an adversarial system of
justice, people who aren't represented are at a
disadvantage and they're gonna lose whether they've
got a good case or not."
This reception honoring Lane County donors to the
2005 Campaign and the Endowment fund.
Judge David Brewer of the Oregon Court of Appeals
spoke movingly of the daily challenges of living
with poverty. Speakers also included Lane
County Campaign Chair Gerry Gaydos, Campaign
supporter Martha Walters, and Caroline Forell of the

"Nobody is interested in your party
identification when it comes to equal justice...but
we are interested in making sure everybody has equal
opportunity to succeed in our society and that's why
this program is so special."
Senator Gordon Smith:
"Equal justice under the law is not a
Democratic issue or a Republican issue; it's an
American issue."
Henry H Hewitt: "This one
million dollars feels awfully good. Imagine
that. We have raised one million dollars this
year..."

Once again the funniest lawyers we could find
vied to take home the title of Funniest Lawyer in
Oregon, and all in support of legal aid.
Presided over once again by Kerry Tymchuck, over 800
guests crowded the arena of the venerable Memorial
Coliseum. The Hons Anna Brown, Julie Frans,
and Rives Kistler, (with the assistance of our guest
arbiter Gert Boyle of Columbia Sportswear, Inc.)
deemed Emily Simon supremely hilarious, but it was a
close call! LAF-Off is organized by Fios and friends in cooperation with
the Campaign. For more information, please visit
